Siberian Miner's Lettuce
Claytonia sibrica
Description: Slightly succulent annual from slender taproot or short rhizomes, several stems, spreading to erect, 10-40cm tall with basal long stalked 3-30cm long lance or egg-shaped leaves, stem leaves are opposite, stalkless, egg-shaped.  Small white to pinkish flowers with 2 sepals and 5 6-12mm long petals in 1-3 many flowered clusters.  (Early in season shown here)  
Ecology: Common in moist shady forests, streambanks, meadows, thickets, at low to middle elevations.  Notes: This picture was taken in moist, humus rich soil at Wakefield Creek, Sechelt, BC.  Bottom picture shows closeup.
